How to make your own personalized CAKE!

Happy Valentine's Day!
I hope you are having a great weekend!
Here is a fun little tutorial to make your own personalized cake!

Let's face it... I love cake.
A soft cake with minimal frosting.

Today I am going to share with you a simple way to frost a cake and make it personalized!
I like baking cakes, cookies, brownies, etc, for all occasions.  I'm not a professional, but it's something I like to do.

Here are some cute ways I have decorated cakes:

The bicycle/whatever fun outline you want cake

The number cake

The write out what you want to say with fruit, cake

What I love about homemade cakes is that you can personalize them and make them for several different occasions.  No, I am not a professional baker and my cakes do not turn out looking like you picked it up at your local bakery, but they are unique and made from the heart!!

So here is a little tutorial about how to make a number cake.

Bake your cake according to the package.
Don't let it get too brown... a moist cake is best.
I ALWAYS use plain applesauce instead of oil.
It makes the cake moist and it's healthier than using oil.
After you let the cake cool, frost it.

I usually do the following directions while my cake is baking and when I am waiting for it to cool.

First, print or draw out the number you want on your cake.  Make sure it is big enough for your cake.

Next, you cut out the numbers.
You can do this TWO ways.
Option #1:
You can cut out an outline and then put sprinkles in the outline
OR
Option#2:
You can cut out the numbers and put sprinkles all around the entire cake.
For this cake I did option #1.  I didn't have very many sprinkles, so this worked for me.

Here I cut out and outline of the 27.
I love that there is a baby in the 2.  That would be my cute nephew!

Place the number outline down gently and put your sprinkles in the outline.

After, gently, pick up the paper and add any sprinkles where you left gaps.
I added frosting to it because I did a thin layer at first.

I LOVE LOVE this cake!  It's so easy and personal!

Here is one I made for my nephew.  What is really neat is my dad drew the outline!  He is a graphic artist so he was perfect for the job!  I didn't have to print it out or cut it!
It was a win win!

I put the sprinkles on and then pealed it up.

Here is the finished product!
It is an alternative to a store bought cake!

I hope you find this helpful!

I would love for you to share your cakes with me if you try this tutorial!

Best of luck!
